For more than 50 years, the Desert Ball has been honoring accomplished young ladies in our community, while fostering community, devoting time and resources to charity. Although debutante balls occur all over the United States and throughout the world, there is something so very special about our Desert Ball. Our debutante ball gives our participants a chance to celebrate with family and friends together during the December holiday season, making lasting friendships and give back to the community.
Through monetary and in-kind donations from their compassionate supporters, Scottsdale Community Partners is able to provide emergency assistance to Scottsdale youth, families, and seniors who find themselves in crisis situations. Their partnership with the City of Scottsdale allows them to provide food, transportation vouchers, prescription co-pay assistance, and rent and utility assistance to hundreds of families and thousands of individuals each year. In addition to helping Scottsdale residents in need, they also co-facilitate several programs with the City of Scottsdale Human Services Division such as the Covering the Bases: Back to School Event, the Holiday Adopt A Family Program, and the Holiday Adopt A Senior Program, which provides additional support to our fellow neighbors.
Founded in 2004, Hope & A Future is celebrating its 18th year supporting Arizona foster children from 7 years of age into adulthood. We initially create meaningful relationships with foster children through our summer camps, and transformative relationships through our post-camp programs. Because of community support, we are able to form and maintain relationship-based connections with the children through all of our programs: summer camps, life-skills training, mentoring, tutoring and educational scholarships. Once a part of our program, a child is always welcome to continue participating in our programs. So, we strive to maintain long-term connections with the children whether they remain in foster care, return to their biological families or become adopted. We know that current and former foster children face life-long struggles due to childhood trauma and we’ll always be available to support and encourage them. Through our programs, we improve foster children’s long-term outcomes by offering them hope and a brighter future.
